Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Traumatic events and losses that haven't been integrated can cause havoc in our moods, physical health, and relationships. The integration of these can lead to post-traumatic growth and increase resilience. I work creatively with clients using expressive methods (art therapy, sand play, ritual creation, etc) that engage the wisdom of the body through mindfulness, Focusing, Natural Processing, EMDR, etc. toward integration. I work under the premise that we all have an "inner healing intelligence" and may simply need help accessing this. I also help people needing integration of psychedelic experiences or other non-ordinary states. With children and youth, I teach S.E.T. (somatic, emotional and thought) literacy, a term I co-created with a neuropsychologist colleague using experiential modalities such as art therapy, play therapy and sand play. I work with children, adolescents and families, often working with parenting and couple's issues that impact the family as a whole. I specialize and speak on topics such as Art for Access art therapy process I developed, anticipatory grief, children's grief, and psychedelic assisted psychotherapy.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Redding, CA 96001

Approximately half of Dr. Copitch's practice involves children and families. The other half is devoted to individual therapy. And, as Dr. Copitch often jokes, "the third half of my work is devoted to school consultations, business consultations, and corporate trainings."
