Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
“For the last 13 years I have worked successfully with adult clients dealing with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, abuse issues, personality issues and other relationship and mental health concerns. I believe that a trusting relationship between the therapist and client is the foundation for all growth and change. However, the relationship itself is typically not sufficient. I will help you set goals for your therapy based upon what you would like to have different in your life, and together we will explore and change the blocks which have prevented you from achieving your goals. I specialize in and enjoy working with challenging problems that have been resistant to change. While I have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including mindfulness, skills building, stress reduction and psycho-education, all within a supportive, client-centered context. I believe that group therapy is often more powerful than individual therapy. I offer group therapy for clients with bipolar spectrum disorders, panic and anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. Groups provide the opportunity for shared wisdom and experience, and for building a supportive therapeutic community.”

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
