Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice. My work focuses on individual and couples psychotherapy with an age range covering late adolescence to late adulthood. I specialize in working with clients interested in personal growth and self-discovery, unpacking and working through aspects of their lives that prevent them from living an optimal life in relationship with others.

My approach in therapy centers on the client’s present day experience while bringing in the relevant aspects of one’s personal history. Therapy is a collaborative process of the therapist and the client re-creating a life of healing and fullness. Therapy might mean working through depression and anxiety, significant events in the past, exploring spiritual meanings, all the while exploring the here-and-now. Having had extensive international experiences, I also actively engage in an intercultural frame and approach in therapy, exploring cultural values and intergenerational issues. Wellness is actively defined by the forces and people that has shaped and continues to shape us.

I received my psychotherapy training at Fuller Theological Seminary (M.S. MFT). Additionally I also received a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Seminary as well as a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I am fluent in Mandarin, Chinese and Taiwanese, and familiar with Japanese.
